Nashville Group Highlights After-School Success

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A growing initiative in Nashville is working to emphasize the value of after-school programs for local youth. Known as the Nashville After Zone Alliance (NAZA), this program is dedicated to expanding access to quality after-school opportunities across the city. With a focus on student development and community engagement, NAZA is striving to create more programming that supports young people in Music City.

The Nashville After Zone Alliance is currently organizing an event called Lights On Afterschool, which will take place in several key locations throughout Nashville, including Antioch, Old Hickory, and East Nashville. Each site will feature unique activities and highlights designed to showcase the impact of after-school programs on students' lives. The goal is to raise awareness about how these programs contribute to academic success, personal growth, and long-term opportunities.

NAZA operates under the Nashville Public Library and has become a vital resource for families and educators. Andrea Fanta, a spokesperson for the Nashville Public Library, emphasized the importance of out-of-school time in shaping the future of young people in the area. According to Fanta, Nashville is a city that values its youth and actively supports their aspirations.

“We’re passionate about how curious they are, how talented they are, and we want to work with families and young people to open up pathways for college and workforce and to achieve dreams and their ambitions,” Fanta said.

The alliance continues to expand its reach, aiming to connect more families with high-quality after-school programs. NAZA collaborates with a network of providers who offer structured, engaging activities that help students build skills and confidence outside of the classroom. This effort is seen as essential for nurturing the next generation of leaders and innovators in the region.

One of the upcoming events will be held at Beech Creek Missionary Baptist Church. The theme for this gathering will center around science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM). Families and children of all ages are encouraged to attend, with a wide range of interactive activities planned to inspire creativity and learning.
