A New Horror-Comedy Feature Takes on Generation X Culture
A fresh horror-comedy film is set to make its mark by poking fun at the culture of Generation X. Directed by Todd Berger, the satirical slasher movie The Big Kill is being produced by Live Nation Studios, with filming recently beginning. The film pays homage to Gen X and features a soundtrack filled with popular 1990s songs.
The Cast of The Big Kill
The film boasts an ensemble cast that includes several genre favorites. Skeet Ulrich, known for his role in Five Nights at Freddy's 2, Alicia Witt from Longlegs, Jolene from Star Trek: Enterprise, and Megan Suri from Companion are all part of the cast. Additionally, comedy stars Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite), Pete Holmes (Woman of the Hour), Natasha Leggero (The Do-Over), Morgan Jay (St. Denis Medical), Trevor Wallace (Drugstore June), and Steph Tolev (Tires) have joined the project.
The Plot of The Big Kill
The Big Kill follows a group of longtime friends and their families as they gather at a remote cabin after a funeral. When a killer begins targeting the group, the friends must confront the darkest parts of their pasts. The film is directed by Berger, who previously worked on It's a Disaster, and features a script written by Emmy-winning Daily Show writer Daniel Radosh. Producers include Live Nation Studios and Mason Novick for MXN Entertainment, with Ryan Kroft executive producing for Live Nation Studios.
What the Creators Are Saying
Ryan Kroft, head of film and television at Live Nation Studios, expressed his excitement about the project. "Horror plus comedy set to '90s music equals a resounding yes for Live Nation Studios," he said. "With this fan-favorite cast and phenomenal producing team, The Big Kill is destined to be a horror hit."
Berger shared his own thoughts on the film. "When I saw Scream in the theater as a teenager, it blew me away because it was a slasher movie filled with people my own age, talking the way we actually talked. But then, over the years, I noticed something about the protagonists of slashers - they weren't aging like the rest of us. So now, to get to make a horror comedy about fellow Gen Xers with kids and mortgages and ruminations on existential dread, and to do it with an incredibly witty script and amazing cast, is a dream come true."
Mason Novick added, "Horror comedies are one of the toughest genres to land. It's so important to deliver on both the laughs and scares. We're so fortunate to have a cast that is both legacy horror actors and a bunch of really funny comedians, this way we have both great jokes and great kills."
Looking Ahead
As production continues, fans are eagerly awaiting the release of The Big Kill. With its unique blend of humor, horror, and nostalgia, the film promises to offer a fresh take on the slasher genre while celebrating the experiences of Generation X. The combination of a talented cast, experienced producers, and a compelling script makes The Big Kill a highly anticipated project in the world of cinema.
