Wife and Daughter of Missing Arkansas Veteran Charged with Fraud and Conspiracy

POTTSVILLE, Ark. — A legal case involving a missing Arkansas veteran has taken a significant turn as his wife and daughter have been indicted for alleged wire fraud and conspiracy related to the collection of VA disability payments following his disappearance.

Shannon Lee Collins was reported missing over four years ago after his wife informed the Pope County Sheriff’s Office that he had walked away from their home in Pottsville in March 2021. Since then, authorities have been investigating the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.

Treasa Collins, Shannon’s wife, and Brittany Collins, his daughter, are set to face trial on January 20, 2026. An investigation revealed that the two allegedly collected Shannon’s VA disability payments for approximately nine months after he was last seen. According to the indictment, if the Department of Veterans Affairs had known that Shannon was deceased, it would not have paid the $32,434.49 in disability compensation benefits.

The indictment also states that Shannon Collins traveled to Tennessee in March 2021 but had no contact with his immediate family afterward. His wife had access to his account, and the court documents suggest that she may have been involved in misrepresenting his status to the VA.

In one instance, the indictment mentions conversations between Treasa and Brittany with Shannon’s sister, during which they claimed that “Shannon is working on building his business, so he is traveling a lot.” Additionally, Brittany reportedly told law enforcement that she spoke to Shannon via FaceTime in October 2021.

The Pope County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) previously stated that investigators were looking into Shannon Collins’ case as a missing person with potential foul play involved. During the initial interview, the wife provided false and misleading statements to investigators, according to a news release from 2024. The release also noted that investigators attempted to obtain follow-up information from Shannon’s wife and children, but were told that they had obtained legal counsel and wished to speak to investigators no further.

Shannon Collins served in the U.S. Army National Guard and was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant Major SGM after 24 years of service. His military career was marked by dedication and leadership, making his disappearance even more troubling for those who knew him.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about Shannon Collins’ whereabouts to contact the Pope County Sheriff’s Office at 479-968-2558.
