The Rise of Horror-Themed Popcorn Buckets
This year has seen a surge in memorable horror sequels that have captivated fans across the genre. From I Know What You Did Last Summer to Final Destination Bloodlines, there's something for every horror enthusiast. However, for those who enjoy haunted house adventures, The Conjuring: Last Rites is likely at the top of their must-see list for the fall season. As the final case of the Warrens approaches, one of their most terrifying adversaries is getting a new and unsettling popcorn bucket.
Annabelle Makes Her Popcorn Debut
The first popcorn bucket for Last Rites is none other than Annabelle. This full-size doll is depicted holding an old-fashioned wooden popcorn tin, which closely resembles the material used in Annabelle’s original case. Her soulless eyes seem to challenge any brave horror fan to reach into the full bucket of popcorn. This is just the latest addition to a growing trend of horror-themed popcorn buckets. Annabelle now joins other films like I Know What You Did Last Summer, Alien: Romulus, and MEGAN 2.0 in this theatrical popcorn battle. The latter film even featured its own set of frightening doll popcorn buckets.
The Last Rites Annabelle bucket was recently revealed by Regal Cinemas and will be available for purchase both in-person at local theaters and online. Fans can look forward to snagging this eerie collectible soon.
The Real-Life Case Files of Ed and Lorraine Warren
Since 2013, the Conjuring franchise has been scaring audiences with its nostalgic visuals, creative direction, and vintage performances. At the heart of these films are Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as Ed and Lorraine Warren. Their portrayal of the real-life paranormal investigators has brought a unique romance and emotional depth to each case, setting them apart from other horror films.
Throughout the 10 films in this shared universe, the Warrens have encountered Annabelle multiple times. Most recently in Annabelle Comes Home (2019). Although Annabelle played a minor role in the original Conjuring, her real-life backstory and chilling appearance made her the central demon of the universe. She eventually got her own trilogy starting in 2014. While she was absent from The Devil Made Me Do It (2021), the trailers for Last Rites suggest she will play a significant role in the latest film. This makes sense given that Annabelle has been the most marketable character in the franchise for over a decade.
Annabelle has also appeared in various merchandise, including Funko Pops, plushies, action figures, and Thrilljoy figures, making every horror fan excited.
When Does The Conjuring: Last Rites Release?
The Conjuring: Last Rites is set to hit theaters on September 5, 2025. This will mark the conclusion of the mainline Conjuring series. However, there's also a Conjuring HBO series currently in development. Before the final Warrens case begins, fans can stream the first three Conjuring films and the Annabelle trilogy on HBO Max. Additionally, Regal’s previously released popcorn buckets are available for viewing on their website.
