Local Residents Take Center Stage in “The Ultimate 90’s Movie”
Residents from across the Green Bay area gathered at Bay Beach on Monday, eager to play a part in the filming of “The Ultimate 90’s Movie.” The production team chose the amusement park as a key location for several scenes, and they were looking for extras to bring the 1990s to life.
The original filming date was set for August 9, but severe weather forced a delay. Despite the rain on Monday, the cast and crew were undeterred. Director Joshua Mallett expressed his gratitude for the turnout, emphasizing that the support from locals has been crucial to the project’s success.
“There were a lot of extras, and they were really interested. You’ve been great. Green Bay has been a great support. They’re excited to be out here, and we’re excited to have them, and I think we’re going to have what we need today,” Mallett said.
The movie aims to capture the essence of the 1990s, and the extras were encouraged to dress in their best retro outfits. Many residents took this opportunity to revisit their childhood wardrobes, bringing back styles that defined the decade.
Sisters Zelda and Andromeda shared how they prepared for the role. They raided their mother’s old clothing bins, searching for pieces that would fit the 90s aesthetic. This was their first time being part of a film, and they weren’t about to let a little rain stop them.
“We haven’t been in a film before. We’ve done a couple things at the Kroc Center over by Target, I believe. That’s all we’ve ever done. But I’ve always wanted to be in a movie,” said the sisters.
Their enthusiasm reflects the broader excitement among local participants, who are proud to contribute to a project that celebrates a beloved era. For many, it’s not just about appearing on camera—it’s about reliving memories and being part of something nostalgic.
Mallett also mentioned that the production team is actively seeking more talent for future scenes. He encouraged anyone interested in joining the project to follow the film’s social media accounts for updates on casting calls in different locations.
The collaboration between the film crew and the community highlights the importance of local support in independent productions. With each scene filmed, the project brings the 90s back to life, one moment at a time.
As the filming continues, the team remains focused on meeting deadlines and overcoming challenges—whether they come from the weather or the clock. For now, the extra efforts of Green Bay residents are helping to shape a film that promises to be a tribute to a unique and memorable time in pop culture history.
