LSU Football's Active Transfer Portal Activity
The transfer portal has been a significant area of focus for Lane Kiffin and the LSU football program as they continue to reshape their roster. With multiple additions and ongoing recruitment efforts, the Tigers are making strategic moves to address key positions across both offense and defense.
One of the most notable additions came when offensive lineman William Satterwhite from Tennessee committed to LSU. This was the second offensive line addition for the Tigers this portal window, highlighting the need for depth in that area. Satterwhite, who played eight games at center for the Vols, is expected to provide immediate help for the Tigers' offensive line.
On the defensive side, LSU made a significant move by landing South Alabama edge rusher Achilles Woods. The freshman had 11 tackles, including a sack, during his first season with the Jaguars. With three years of eligibility remaining, Woods is a valuable addition to the defensive front.
LSU also added another defensive piece in the form of Southern defensive back Treylan James. James tallied 26 tackles, five passes defended, and a forced fumble during his sophomore season with the Jaguars. His commitment adds much-needed depth to the secondary.
In the quarterback department, Lane Kiffin and his staff finally found a signal caller when Elon transfer Landen Clark committed to the Tigers. Clark, a freshman sensation for the Phoenix, threw for 2,321 yards, 18 touchdowns, and eight interceptions in his first season. His arrival addresses a critical need for LSU as they look to build a strong passing game.
Another key addition came when LSU signed West Florida wide receiver Tyree Holloway. Holloway, who recorded 661 yards and eight touchdowns on 34 receptions last season, gives the Tigers more depth at the wide receiver position. With eight wide receiver signees and commits already in the portal class, LSU continues to strengthen its receiving corps.
LSU also made progress in the running back department by adding Charlotte’s Rod Gainey and Utah’s Raycine Guillory. Gainey rushed for 260 yards as a freshman for the 49ers, while Guillory, a freshman transfer, brings experience and potential to the backfield.
On the other hand, several LSU players have entered the transfer portal, including offensive linemen Tyler Miller and Ethan Calloway, defensive linemen Walter Mathis Jr. and Zion Williams, and wide receiver TaRon Francis. These departures highlight the ongoing changes within the program as players seek new opportunities.
LSU is also actively pursuing additional transfers, including Arizona State quarterback Sam Leavitt and Penn State edge rusher Chaz Coleman. Leavitt, a top-rated quarterback in the portal, has been expected to visit LSU, while Coleman is considered one of the best available defensive ends.
The transfer portal window closes on January 16, giving players until that date to make their final decisions. However, those already in the portal can still commit to new schools after the deadline. As the Tigers continue to navigate the portal, they remain focused on building a competitive roster that aligns with Kiffin’s vision for the program.
With numerous additions and ongoing recruitment efforts, LSU is shaping up to be one of the most active programs in the transfer portal this cycle. The team’s strategy of targeting specific positions and high-impact players demonstrates a clear plan to strengthen the roster for the upcoming season.
