"I used to enjoy going into places that were dangerous. I liked going into the Nuba Mountains and Darfur and Abyei, and there was war zones. And I found it exhilarating. And Amal was in a bunker in Beirut for two years doing the court cases," he continued. "And we had to make decisions not to do that once we had kids. You had to change sort of what the rules were."
Raising Children in France
In addition to his thoughts on family life, Clooney revealed that he prefers raising his children in France rather than Los Angeles. He explained that a good portion of his own childhood was spent on a farm, which he initially disliked. However, he now sees the benefits of this lifestyle for his children.
"You know, we live on a farm in France. A good portion of my life growing up was on a farm, and as a kid, I hated the whole idea of it," he told Esquire. "But now, for them, it’s like — they’re not on their iPads, you know? They have dinner with grown-ups and have to take their dishes in. They have a much better life."
Clooney expressed concerns about raising his kids in Los Angeles, where the culture of Hollywood might not offer them a fair shake. He emphasized that in France, people don't care much about fame. "I don’t want them to be walking around worried about paparazzi. I don’t want them being compared to somebody else’s famous kids."
