Olivia Rodrigo’s Final “Guts” Era Show in New York City
Olivia Rodrigo is officially saying goodbye to her “Guts” era. The singer-songwriter wrapped up her 102-show, arena-filling Guts World Tour with an intimate “secret” concert in New York City, hosted by American Express. The event took place on Thursday night and marked what Rodrigo described as the “last ‘Guts’ show.”
“This is definitely going to be the last ‘Guts’ show, so it’s kind of awesome to bookend this chapter,” Rodrigo said before launching into her first chart-topping hit, “Drivers License.” She added, “Can’t wait to get back on the road one of these days. I don’t think I’ve ever played a show without playing this song.”
Dressed in a sequined chartreuse babydoll mini dress, knee-high socks, and Miu Miu ballet flats, Rodrigo delivered a performance filled with hits from both her debut album “Sour” and her sophomore release “Guts.” The set included songs like “Vampire,” “Bad Idea Right?” and “Deja Vu,” showcasing her versatility as a performer.
The concert was attended by several celebrities, including Ashley Park from “Emily in Paris,” Nina Dobrev from “The Vampire Diaries,” and Emma Grede, co-founder of Good American. They were seen rocking out to Rodrigo’s music on the purple-hued stage.
An Exclusive Experience for Fans
The show was exclusive to American Express Platinum and Business Platinum cardholders, along with VIP guests. Attendees were treated to a variety of food and drinks before the concert, including chicken sandwich sliders and hamachi crudo bites. After the performance, fans enjoyed an open bar and to-go pizza.
Rodrigo also took a moment to express her gratitude to the teen drama series “The Summer I Turned Pretty,” which featured her “Guts” track “Lacy” in Season 3, Episode 2. She shared how she felt proud of writing the song, noting that it captured a deep emotional experience of jealousy and comparison.
“I thought it really captured this feeling that I was feeling so acutely,” she said. Rodrigo had initially hesitated to include “Lacy” in her live performances, thinking it might be too down-tempo. However, after the song was featured in the show, fans began chanting for her to perform it at concerts.
“Since it was in that show, people have been like chanting at me at concerts to sing it if I wasn’t going to,” she said. “So I’m really grateful for that show and I’m really grateful to you guys for listening to the song and streaming it, because it’s always been one of my favorites.”
