A Call for Unity and Reason in Politics

Actor Chris Pratt recently shared his thoughts on the importance of looking beyond political divisions, even when it comes to controversial figures like former President Donald Trump. In a conversation on the "Club Random" podcast, he emphasized that people should not let their dislike for a president prevent them from acknowledging positive achievements within the government.

During the discussion, host Bill Maher asked Pratt about the recent attention surrounding Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who served as the Secretary of Health and Human Services under Trump. Pratt, who is married to Katherine Schwarzenegger, daughter of Maria Shriver and former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, has personal connections to the Kennedy family. Maria Shriver is the niece of John F. Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy Sr., adding an interesting layer to Pratt’s perspective.

Maher expressed his admiration for Kennedy Jr., stating, “I love him. I don’t agree with everything, but I agree with, like, the overall view that what makes us sick is the toxicity.” Pratt agreed with this sentiment, noting that he has spent time with Kennedy in casual family settings and finds him to be a likable person. “I think he's funny. I like him,” he said.

Pratt acknowledged that politics can be a messy and divisive arena. “In politics, you inherit enemies. And when you jump on the bandwagon with who is the most divisive president ever, it makes sense that you’re going to be made to look terrible,” he reflected. He also expressed skepticism about the media’s portrayal of Kennedy Jr., saying, “I assume none of the things said by the establishment media about him are true.”

Despite his reservations, Pratt highlighted some positive aspects of Kennedy’s work. “There are certain things that he oversees that seem to be supported in a bipartisan way, like getting terrible, toxic stuff out of our kids’ food. I think that’s a great thing. And so, like, just — if you just do that, that’s amazing.”

He urged people not to let their hatred for a president cloud their judgment. “I’d hate to be so mired in hatred for the president that any success from his administration is something I’d have an allergic reaction to. To be like, ‘Oh, well, if they do it, I don’t want it to happen. I’ll put Clorox in my children’s cereal myself.’ You know, it’s like, come on, be reasonable here.”

Pratt concluded by expressing his hope that all government initiatives succeed. “There are certain things that would be a good thing to have. I want them all to be successful.”

New Project: The Terminal List: Dark Wolf

In addition to his comments on politics, Pratt also promoted his upcoming Amazon Prime series, "The Terminal List: Dark Wolf." Based on the books by thriller writer and former Navy SEAL Jack Carr, the series continues the story of James Reece, a fictional former Navy SEAL played by Pratt. This is the second season of the original "Terminal List," which was released in 2022. Season 2 is based on the second book in the series, titled "True Believer."

Carr’s political views are often seen as leaning conservative, which adds another dimension to the show’s narrative. However, Pratt’s focus during the interview remained on the broader message of unity and reason in public discourse.
