‘His life is here’: Portland food cart owner denied re-entry to U.S.

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A Portland chef, father and husband has been denied reentry to the U.S. after traveling to his native country to secure citizenship — but his case is “far from over,” according to his family.

Earlier this week, Reeva Café y Cocina a la Leña announced that it would close indefinitely due to owner Roberto Hernandez Guerrero not being able to return from Mexico. The business revealed that he had traveled for a scheduled interview with the U.S. Consulate General in Ciudad Juarez, where he was expected to complete the process of becoming a resident.
