Strong Performance of "Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc" in Korean Box Office

The Japanese anime film “Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc” continues to dominate the Korean box office nearly a month after its release. The movie is anticipated to remain at the top of the charts over the upcoming weekend, showcasing its enduring popularity among audiences.

According to data from the Korean Film Council’s box-office information system, the film attracted approximately 24,000 viewers on Wednesday, capturing 22.3 percent of the day’s ticket sales. Since its debut on September 24, it has drawn more than 2.33 million spectators, highlighting its strong performance and sustained interest.

In second place, the Japanese thriller “Exit No. 8” opened on Tuesday and drew 16,000 attendees, accounting for 14.8 percent of the total ticket sales. Based on a video game of the same name, the film follows a man who becomes trapped in a time loop, attempting to escape a complex subway corridor by completing various missions. This unique storyline has contributed to its appeal and solidified its position in the rankings.

Korean action comedy “Boss,” featuring actors Cho Woo-jin, Jung Kyung-ho, Lee Kyu-hyung, and Park Ji-hwan, secured the third spot with 14,000 viewers, representing 11.7 percent of the market. Meanwhile, director Park Chan-wook’s latest film, “No Other Choice,” placed fourth with about 9,000 viewers, capturing 8.3 percent of the ticket sales.

As of 9 a.m. on Friday, “Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc” also led the reservation charts with approximately 77,000 presold tickets, making up 24.9 percent of the total reservations. This indicates a strong anticipation for the film’s continued success.

Second place in the reservation chart was claimed by the comedy film “First Ride,” starring Kang Ha-neul, Kim Young-kwang, Cha Eun-woo, Kang Young-seok, and Han Sun-hwa. The film is set to be released on October 29 and already has about 57,000 advance reservations.

“Exit No. 8” came in third with 19,000 presales, which accounted for 6.4 percent of the total reservations. It also ranked second among currently screening titles, showing consistent demand from moviegoers.
