Clairo’s Memorable Headlining Debut at All Things Go

At the All Things Go festival in New York, Clairo made her headlining debut, delivering a performance that left a lasting impression on the audience. The event marked a significant milestone for the artist, who has steadily built a loyal fanbase over the years.

Halfway through her set, Clairo surprised the crowd by inviting her band Shelly to join her on stage. The group, known for their breakout track "Steeeam," performed together for the first time in a while. This moment was especially meaningful for fans, as it highlighted the collaborative spirit between Clairo and her bandmates.

Shelly, consisting of Claire Cottrill (Clairo), Claud Mintz, Josh Mehling, and Noa Frances Getzug, originally formed during the 2020 quarantine period. They released a two-song EP featuring "Steeeam" and "Natural." After pursuing individual projects, the band reunited in 2025, releasing a second EP called "Shelly 2." Their performance of "Steeeam" at Coachella earlier this year, followed by appearances at Governor's Ball and now All Things Go, showcased their renewed energy and connection.

Fans took to social media to express their excitement about the performance. One wrote, “Clairo brought out Shelly at All Things Go in NYC. The performance marks her first time headlining a festival.” Another commented, “Actually rocking back and forth on the lirr clairo brought out shelly.” A third fan shared, “Shelly, I’m quite fond of you.”

The reaction from the audience was overwhelmingly positive. One fan noted, “Never seen more Clairo shade than at this festival. You deserved the full set, queen.” Another encouraged, “It’s okay girl, we still had so much fun!!! Please come back soon.” Another fan added, “Please return soon so we can hear Bags.”

Despite the memorable set, the night took an unexpected turn. As Clairo attempted to deliver a powerful finish, the festival organizers cut her microphone mid-song. She later took to social media to express her disappointment, writing, “The festival cut us off. No idea why. Really sad we couldn’t do our big finish. More surprised they cut my mic mid-song. Sad honestly doesn’t even explain it—I’m sorry.”

The cutoff occurred during her song "Juna," preventing her from performing additional fan favorites like "Bags" or "Sofia." According to reports, the decision was due to a strict 10 p.m. curfew at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, where the festival is held. Neighbors had previously raised noise complaints, leading to the hard stop on performances. Clairo was visibly trying to negotiate with staff before being forced off stage.

Despite the abrupt ending, Clairo left the stage with a strong impression, marking her first time headlining a festival. The surprise inclusion of Shelly shocked fans, who erupted in cheers throughout the performance.

Just recently, Clairo signed with Atlantic Records, and her solo work, particularly her 2024 album "Charm," has received critical acclaim. Meanwhile, her Shelly bandmates have continued to pursue their own music careers. Claud has released solo work and is signed to Phoebe Bridgers’ Saddest Factory label. Noa Getzug has worked in A&R, and Josh Mehling continues to create new content.
