Dolly Parton, the iconic singer known for hits like "Jolene" and "9 to 5," will not be attending the Governors Awards in person to accept her honorary Oscar. Instead, she is expected to deliver her acceptance speech remotely from Nashville. This decision has been planned since June, according to a spokesperson for the artist.
The representative clarified that Parton's absence is due to a scheduling conflict, not health concerns. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced her as the recipient of the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award in June, and Parton’s team reportedly suggested postponing the ceremony to allow her to attend in person. However, no such adjustment was made, and the event will proceed as scheduled in November.
Parton is being honored for her significant humanitarian efforts, particularly through the Dollywood Foundation, which has promoted childhood literacy since 1995. The Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award recognizes individuals who have brought credit to the motion picture industry through their contributions to human welfare and efforts to address inequities.
