Elizabeth Olsen’s Surprising Memory Lapse and the Unique Story of ‘Marvel Zombies’
Elizabeth Olsen has become one of the most recognizable faces in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), particularly for her portrayal of Wanda Maximoff, also known as the Scarlet Witch. Her journey from a tragic past to becoming a central figure in MCU storytelling has captivated audiences for years. Recently, however, Olsen shared an amusing anecdote about her involvement in the animated series Marvel Zombies, which sparked interest and curiosity among fans.
During a panel at LA Comic Con, Olsen was asked about her role in the Disney+ series Marvel Zombies. Her response was both candid and humorous. She admitted that she had completely forgotten about her participation in the show. “I truly recorded that years ago. I can’t remember anything. I need to watch it. I have no idea what happens in Marvel Zombies... It’s my voice. I did it in my house, I wasn’t even in an office space.”
Olsen added, “This must have been 2020 or 2021? Why was I working in my house and not in a studio? I really have no idea what it was like. I’m so sorry.” Her comments made perfect sense given the context of the pandemic. During those early years, many actors were recording their lines from home due to lockdown restrictions. The timing of her work on Marvel Zombies likely coincided with this period, making her memory lapse understandable.
Despite this, Olsen has remained active in the MCU. She has voiced Wanda in What If…?, filmed Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and completed press for WandaVision, which earned her Golden Globe and Emmy nominations. Clearly, the Scarlet Witch hasn’t been taking a break.
In Marvel Zombies, Wanda plays a key antagonist, continuing her storyline from What If…? season 1. While she doesn’t have as much screen time as other characters like Ms. Marvel or Shang-Chi, her impact is significant within the four-episode series. Given the brief and remote nature of her voice session, it’s not surprising that Olsen didn’t remember much about it.
The Introduction of Infinity Hulk
One of the most talked-about elements of Marvel Zombies is the introduction of Infinity Hulk. In the animated series, the world is overrun by a zombie plague, and the remaining heroes face off against a zombified Thanos wielding the Infinity Gauntlet. To stop him, King T’Challa sacrifices himself in the Vibranium core. This explosion destroys the Infinity Stones and releases a surge of energy powerful enough to tear the world apart.
At this point, Bruce Banner steps in. In a dramatic act of self-sacrifice, he absorbs all the unleashed Infinity Stone energy into himself, transforming into what fans have dubbed the Infinity Hulk. Acting as a living anchor, he contains the cataclysmic force and prevents planetary annihilation. This moment is one of the most emotionally powerful and visually stunning send-offs for Banner in any Marvel adaptation.
However, there’s a twist: Infinity Hulk does not exist in the original Marvel Comics. This version of the Hulk was created specifically for the animated series and is not based on any established comic storyline. That said, Marvel has a history of adapting popular animated or film concepts into comics after they are released. For now, Infinity Hulk remains an original narrative invention, crafted to give Marvel Zombies an epic storyline.
His role not only pays tribute to Hulk’s legacy but also reframes Bruce Banner’s internal struggle through a new lens. This creative decision highlights the flexibility of the MCU and its ability to explore new ideas while still honoring the core of its characters.
