He added, “I couldn’t believe it. I mean, by the time the run of Swamp Thing that I read — I was in my late 20s or 30s or something like that. I think it’s just his emotional life, I think is what’s attractive to me. I’m never going to get the chance to play it.”

It remains unclear why D'Onofrio believes he is out of the running for the role, but it’s worth noting that DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran have been making strategic moves lately.
