Exciting New Comedy Pilot from FX
FX has taken a bold step in the world of comedy by officially giving the green light to a pilot for the upcoming show "Very Young Frankenstein." This new project is set to bring a fresh take on the classic horror-comedy genre, drawing inspiration from the iconic 1974 film "Young Frankenstein" directed by Mel Brooks and starring Gene Wilder.
The pilot will feature an impressive ensemble cast, including Zach Galifianakis, known for his role in "The Hangover" and FX's "Baskets," as well as Dolly Wells, who has appeared in "Doll & Em" and "Inside Man." Spencer House, best known for "Tell Me Lies" and "The Society," will also join the cast. Nikki Crawford, who has made her mark on Broadway with "Fat Ham" and "Cruel Intentions," and Kumail Nanjiani, recognized for his work in "Silicon Valley" and "The Big Sick," are also set to star. Additionally, Cary Elwes, famous for his roles in "Robin Hood: Men in Tights" and "The Princess Bride," has joined the cast.
While specific plot details remain under wraps, it is known that the pilot is inspired by the Mel Brooks-Gene Wilder film. Sources indicate that Galifianakis will play Dr. Frankenstein, and Elwes is expected to portray the President of the United States. If the show is picked up for a full series, it will air on Hulu.
Creative Team Behind the Project
The pilot is written by Stefani Robinson, who also serves as an executive producer alongside Taika Waititi and Garrett Basch. All three are alumni of the hit FX comedy series "What We Do in the Shadows." Waititi will direct the pilot, bringing his unique comedic style to the project. Mel Brooks, the original writer and director of "Young Frankenstein," will also serve as an executive producer, along with Kevin Salter and Michael Gruskoff. Salter is Brooks' producing partner, while Gruskoff produced the original film. The studio behind the project is 20th Television.

The film starred Gene Wilder as Dr. Frederick Frankenstein (or Fronk-en-steen), the grandson of Victor Frankenstein. When he inherits his grandfather's estate in Transylvania, Frederick is drawn into continuing his predecessor's work in reanimating the dead.
The original cast also included Cloris Leachman, Marty Feldman, Teri Garr, Madeline Kahn, Peter Boyle, and Kenneth Mars. Gene Hackman made a brief appearance in the film as a blind man who encounters Frankenstein's monster.
Upcoming Projects and News
In other news, Kumail Nanjiani has signed on for six Marvel movies before "Eternals," expressing his initial belief that it would be his job for the next 10 years, though none of that happened. Additionally, the premiere of "Alien: Earth" has already reached 9.2 million views in just six days.
