A Unique Performance on The Voice
Carson Daly might not need a break from hosting The Voice, but if he ever does, 28-year-old furniture dealer Cori Kennedy could be an ideal replacement. The country artist made a strong impression during her Blind Audition for Season 28 of the singing competition. Accompanying herself on the guitar, she captivated the audience with her original song, which showcased not only her talent but also her sharp wit.
After receiving multiple chair turns, the Minnesota native revealed that she had written a song about meeting the four coaches, which they were eager to hear. The lyrics were so clever and well-crafted that they became a standout moment of the audition.
Well I’m just a girl from a zero stoplight town / Minnesota roots and wearing hand me downs
From dreaming in the dark I’d step out and rejoice / My grandma won’t believe me that I’m singing on The Voice
Snoop
I didn’t grow up on your rhythm or your rhyme / But I know Willie Nelson so I think we’ll be just fine
Miss Reba, you raised me right on that sitcom screen / A single mom who works two jobs, my redhead fancy queen
Niall your Irish smile lit up my teenage days / I was only smitten for Harry in my One Direction phase
Mister Bublé you sing like a Christmas star / But have you ever tried to jumpstart a frozen Minnesota car?
I’m not sure what I’m doing or why they even picked me / I must be doing something right, singing on BroNews
The lyrics cleverly referenced each of the coaches, blending humor with heartfelt moments. Niall Horan and Harry Styles were once bandmates in One Direction, a pop group that formed on The X Factor. They were part of the band until it officially disbanded in 2016, though they still maintain a close relationship. In fact, last summer, Harry Styles attended Niall Horan's concert in Manchester, as reported by Billboard.
Niall Horan’s Journey on The Voice
Though he is the youngest coach on The Voice, Niall Horan is far from inexperienced. Having been in the music industry since his teenage years, he has achieved a lot in his young life. “I’ve achieved a lot in my young life, but I’m still fired up to do as much as I can,” Horan told Rolling Stone UK in 2023. He described his career as a reflection of the music industry he imagined as a kid, expressing gratitude for the opportunities to travel the world and perform for millions.
His first season as a coach on The Voice was in 2023, when Blake Shelton was still on the show. “Blake, he’s like a dad to me. Y’know, he’s really helped me during the show. I’ve really enjoyed his company, and watching him has been a real honor,” Horan said in a March 2023 interview with BroNewssider. He noted that he and Shelton quickly became good friends, recognizing their similarities both in good and bad ways. “He’s so funny—from the minute we met him.”
In a video from their first season together, the two joked about possibly being long-lost family. “We just found each other after 29 years,” Shelton quipped. Horan added, “No offense to my dad... to the point where I’m thinking about firing my own dad.” Their camaraderie brought a light-hearted and entertaining dynamic to the show.
