Mark Ruffalo’s Humorous Take on Not Being in the Avengers: Doomsday Cast
Mark Ruffalo, known for his iconic role as the Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has humorously addressed his absence from the cast announcement of Avengers: Doomsday. The actor, who has portrayed the green giant since 2012’s The Avengers, was notably not listed among the stars revealed for the upcoming fifth installment in the franchise.
During an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Ruffalo was asked about his omission. As he smiled, Fallon remarked, “Every time you’re on the show you give a spoiler and get in trouble!” In response, Ruffalo quipped, “They decided it was better to get rid of me than for me to tell the end of the next movie.” Fallon chuckled and replied, “Alright, that makes sense.”
This isn’t the first time Ruffalo has accidentally spoiled a Marvel movie. In 2017, during an interview promoting Thor: Ragnarok, he inadvertently revealed details about the then-unreleased Avengers: Infinity War. Despite this, it is still rumored that Ruffalo may have a role in Avengers: Doomsday.
A Star-Studded Lineup for the Next Avengers Film
The official cast list for Avengers: Doomsday includes some of the most recognizable names in the Marvel universe. Chris Hemsworth will reprise his role as Thor, while Anthony Mackie returns as Sam Wilson and Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier. Tom Hiddleston will once again play Loki, and Paul Rudd will be back as Ant-Man.
New superheroes joining the team include Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Letitia Wright as Shuri, Winston Duke as M’Baku, and Tenoch Huerta Mejía as Namor, the antagonist from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Kelsey Grammer will appear as Hank McCoy/Beast, and Danny Ramirez will take on the role of Joaquin Torres/Falcon. David Harbour is set to play Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, while Florence Pugh will return as Yelena Belova. Hannah John-Kamen will reprise her role as Ava Starr/Ghost, and Patrick Stewart will return as Charles Xavier/Professor X.
Expansion of the Marvel Universe
The film will also feature the lead cast of Fantastic Four: First Steps. Pedro Pascal will play Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch. Lewis Pullman, who recently debuted as Robert Reynolds/Sentry in Thunderbolts, will also join the ensemble.
Additional actors making appearances include Ian McKellen, who played Magneto in the X-Men films; Alan Cumming, who portrayed Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler in X2: X-Men United; Rebecca Romijn, who originated the role of Mystique; James Marsden as Scott Summers/Cyclops; and Channing Tatum, who made his Marvel debut as Gambit in Deadpool and Wolverine.
A New Chapter for the Avengers
Robert Downey Jr. will return to the Avengers universe, but this time as the villainous Victor von Doom/Doctor Doom. His previous role as Tony Stark/Iron Man ended in Endgame. At last year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Downey Jr. joked, “New mask, same task.”
With such a massive lineup of returning and new characters, Avengers: Doomsday promises to be one of the most anticipated films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fans are eager to see how the story will unfold and whether Ruffalo will make a surprise appearance. As the excitement builds, one thing is clear—this film will be a major event for Marvel fans around the world.
