The Return of Tony and Ziva in NCIS: Tony & Ziva

As the 2025 TV schedule continues to unfold, one of the most anticipated series is NCIS: Tony & Ziva, which is available on Paramount+, a top-tier streaming service. Fans are still in disbelief that Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo have returned to the NCIS universe. Weatherly has been portraying Tony DiNozzo since the very beginning, even before the show officially launched, with his first appearance in the JAG backdoor pilot. Despite recent jokes about a potential spinoff called NCIS: Retirement Home, the idea of seeing Tony and Ziva in any setting is something fans would eagerly watch.

The NCIS franchise has spanned over two decades and has spawned several successful spinoffs. The latest addition follows Weatherly and de Pablo’s characters as they go on the run across Europe. During an Instagram conversation, Weatherly mentioned that there are references to past characters and phrases from the original series, and he hinted that new elements introduced in Tony & Ziva may be revisited in NCIS: Retirement Home. While the concept of a retirement home storyline might sound unusual, it's hard to imagine a scenario where Tony and Ziva wouldn't find themselves in some kind of adventure.

Currently, the NCIS franchise shows no signs of slowing down, with four shows currently airing. The idea of characters like Tony, Ziva, and even McGee in a retirement home, still solving cases or evading trouble, sounds both humorous and intriguing. It’s a concept that could easily become a fan favorite if executed well.

Thankfully, NCIS: Retirement Home is still years away, allowing fans to enjoy the current adventures of Tony and Ziva. The first three episodes of NCIS: Tony & Ziva were released at the start of September, with new episodes premiering weekly. The first season is already halfway through, and so far, it has been intense and full of surprises. It remains to be seen how the remaining episodes will unfold, but one thing is certain—these characters wouldn’t be able to pull off their current antics in a retirement home setting. That’s why it’s great that fans can experience these stories now.

In the meantime, the original NCIS series is set to begin its 23rd season, making it the most likely candidate for a retirement home spinoff. While it’s unclear how long the series will continue, it’s still going strong. If Law & Order: SVU has managed to reach 27 seasons, there’s no reason NCIS can’t do the same.

Regardless of how long the NCIS franchise continues, fans will remain loyal and watch every episode, no matter the setting. For now, viewers can look forward to new episodes of Tony & Ziva every Thursday, available through a Paramount+ subscription.
