Austin Prepares for the 2025 ACL Music Festival

Austin is getting ready to host one of its most anticipated events of the year—the 2025 ACL Music Festival. This annual celebration of music and culture is expected to draw massive crowds, with around 75,000 people attending each day. The festival will take place over two weekends, and with so many visitors coming in from across the country, there are several important details that both locals and travelers should be aware of.

A Major Event with Big Names

The lineup for this year’s festival is impressive, featuring a mix of well-known artists and rising stars. Among the headliners are Sabrina Carpenter, Luke Combs, The Killers, The Strokes, and Dochii. Fans like Megan Wesson, who plans to attend both weekends, are particularly excited about the diverse range of performances. "The big ones on my radar are definitely Dochi and Cage The Elephant," she said.

Other attendees, such as Nina Carter from Nashville, are looking forward to seeing artists like Dizzy Fae, Clover County, Tyler Ballgame, and Zinadelfia. "I'm here because I love the ACL festival. It's one of my favorite festivals in the country, and I'm stoked for all the artists I've never seen before," she shared.

Road Closures and Transportation Tips

With such a large number of people expected, the city has implemented road closures in key areas near Zilker Park, where the festival takes place. Starting at 8 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, certain roads will be closed. These include Stephen F. Austin/Veterans Drive from Caesar Chavez to Lake Austin Blvd., and Barton Springs Road from South Lamar Blvd. to Azie Morton Road, starting at 9 p.m.

Parking at Zilker Park and in nearby neighborhoods will not be available, so the city recommends using public transportation, bikes, scooters, or ride-sharing services. "I stay pretty close to Zilker Park, so I walk to the festival or take a bike. Public transportation is always a great way to get to and from the event," said Carter.

Airport Travel Advice

The excitement isn't just limited to the park. Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is also expecting high traffic during the festival. On busy days, up to 35,000 passengers could pass through the airport. Travelers are advised to arrive at least 2.5 hours early for domestic flights and 3 hours for international flights.

Additional Tips for Attendees

ACL organizers have provided some helpful tips for those planning to attend. One key recommendation is to bring a reusable water bottle, as there are water stations throughout the park where you can refill. Additionally, using the official mobile app to plan your schedule ahead of time can help you make the most of your experience.

The Great Lawn, which is typically a popular spot for relaxation, will be closed until October 19. However, Barton Springs Pool and its lot will remain open for swimmers. The city has also created an ACL mobility guide to assist with navigation during the event. You can find it online for more information.

Preparing for the Experience

Whether you're a local or a visitor, the 2025 ACL Music Festival promises to be an unforgettable experience. With its mix of world-class music, community spirit, and unique atmosphere, it's no wonder why so many people are making the trip to Austin. As the city gears up for the event, staying informed about the logistics and planning ahead will ensure a smooth and enjoyable time for everyone involved.
